Tonosafe Disposable Prisms

Haag-Streit AG (Koeniz, Switzerland) introduced Tonosafe Disposable Prisms for use in Goldmann and Perkins applanation tonometers. The prisms are a convenient, effective method of reducing the risk of cross-infection between patients when contact tonometry is performed, according to a company news release. Tonosafe Disposable Prisms have been developed by Haag-Streit for single-patient use and are supplied as a sterile product, eliminating the need to disinfect the prisms.

Victus Femtosecond Laser Platform

Bausch + Lomb (Rochester, New York) has partnered with Technolas Perfect Vision GmbH (Munich, Germany) to introduce the Victus Femtosecond Laser Platform. The Victus is capable of supporting cataract, refractive, and therapeutic procedures in a single platform, according to a company news release. The platform is designed to enable greater precision compared with manual cataract surgery techniques, potentially enhancing the patient experience. Bausch + Lomb and Technolas are currently working with regulatory authorities globally to secure marketing approvals for the Victus. Conformité Europeénne (CE) Marking is expected by the end of the year, according to a company news release. Technolas previously filed for 510(k) clearance in the United States.
