All over the world, students are heading back to school to start a new academic year. Just as they enthusiastically share accounts of their summer vacations with their friends, we, too, are eager to share with our readers what has been brewing at CRST Europe and Bryn Mawr Communications over the summer.
In August, we announced the launch of EyewireTV, a free weekly news program covering the hottest topics in the ophthalmic industry. This service is available on Eyewiretoday.com. Each week’s newscast is approximately 7 to 10 minutes long and features two segments: a recap of the most relevant and timely ophthalmic stories of the past week, selected by the editorial staff of Eyewiretoday.com, and an in- depth interview with one or more leaders in the eye care industry. Viewers can tune in to watch their fellow ophthalmologists sharing results of their latest clinical trials or company executives revealing new product information. EyewireTV complements the daily news coverage on Eyewiretoday.com and surgical procedure videos on Eyetube.net.
The other exciting news we have to share with readers is our Video Show Daily coverage of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) meeting in Vienna, Austria. After four previous successful Show Dailies—the 2010 American Academy of Ophthalmology and the 2011 American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, American College of Ophthalmic Surgeons, and American Society of Retina Specialists meetings—this lively video e-news vehicle is coming to Europe! Breaking news and unique clinical and practice management content will be highlighted through one-on-one surgeon interviews. Leading cataract and refractive surgeons will provide a brief synopsis of some of the most anticipated sessions at the ESCRS meeting during our custom video interviews, which will be broadcast nightly via an e-mail with links to the associated videos.
Video Show Daily coverage will be sent to ophthalmologists who have signed up to receive e-mails from CRST Europe. If you are interested in receiving this and other pertinent content in the future, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. After the ESCRS meeting, all Video Show Daily coverage will be housed as a collection on Eyetube. Simply click on the EyetubeTV tab at the top of the home screen, which will take you to a listing of the Video Show Daily coverage. Spread the word, and please do not forget to let us know what you think of our new vehicle for meeting coverage.
Bryn Mawr Communications now offers a multitude of educational resources for ophthalmologists worldwide. We may be continually expanding our horizons and exploring the digital realm of publishing, but what will never change is our commitment to producing quality publications that present some of the hottest topics in ophthalmology today. In this month’s issue, we pay special attention to immediate sequential bilateral cataract surgery, identifying its advantages and indications, principles for excellence, and surgical techniques. In our bonus feature, surgeons pinpoint management solutions for three important topics in comprehensive clinical care.
If there are any specific topics that you think CRST Europe should cover in 2012, please feel free to e-mail me with your suggestions. First and foremost, our goal is to produce issues that are jam-packed with the content you want to read about. I look forward to continuing this pursuit with your needs in mind.
