Auffarth Cross-Action Capsulorrhexis Forceps

In cooperation with Gerd U. Auffarth, MD, PhD, of the University of Heidelberg Eye Clinic, Geuder AG developed the Auffarth Cross-Action Capsulorrhexis Forceps for microincision cataract surgery (MICS). According to the company, the overlying design of the instrument’s tips make the forceps ideal for clear corneal incisions as small as 1.6 mm. The double cross-action mode of function and narrow design provide surgeons freedom of movement in the anterior chamber. Additionally, the handcrafted and precise tips of the forceps facilitate safe handling of the capsulorrhexis, and the overlying tips prevent the iris from getting caught in them, especially in eyes with intraoperative floppy iris syndrome.

MicroShooter Preloaded IOL Platform

HumanOptics AG introduced the MicroShooter preloaded IOL platform at the annual meeting of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) in Vienna. According to company literature, the pick’n’click injector system enables easy and reliable handling for implantation of the company’s one-piece IOLs. With MiniIN technology, consistent incision sizes independent of implantation technique and insertion depth are guaranteed. The MicroShooter IOL platform is preloaded with HumanOptics’s aspheric Aspira IOL.
