- Available in a toric model
Alcon Laboratories, Inc., is launching the AcrySof ReStor +2.5 D IOL at the annual meeting of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) in Milan, Italy. According to company literature, this newest member of the AcrySof IQ family, which received the Conformité Européene (CE) Mark approval in February 2012, is designed for patients with distance-dominant lifestyles who desire the opportunity for decreased dependence on spectacles. With fewer diffractive steps and a larger central zone than the AcrySof IQ ReStor +3.0 D IOL, the design of the AcrySof ReStor +2.5 D IOL directs a higher percentage of light energy to the distance focal point to deliver sharp distance vision plus a multifocal range. The lens has seven diffractive steps, and the diameter of the apodized diffractive zone is 3.4 mm. The AcrySof IQ ReStor Multifocal Toric +2.5 D IOL offers the same sharp distance vision and multifocal range for astigmatic patients with distancedominant lifestyles. The AcrySof IQ ReStor Multifocal +3.0 D IOL and the AcrySof IQ ReStor Multifocal Toric +3.0 D IOL are lens option for patients who desire the broadest range of vision, according to the company.
