ModMed Surpasses 100 Million Patient Encounters in Eye Care

At this year’s American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting in New Orleans, ModMed is demonstrating the latest innovations from its ModMedOphthalmology software suite, which is designed to support physicians and improve patient experiences at scale.
“We are continuously enhancing our platform with new functionality and we’re thrilled that thousands of providers rely on our all-in-one system that has enabled over 100 million patient encounters,” Michael Rivers, MD, Director of Ophthalmology at ModMed, said in a company news release.
"Prior to EMA, physicians were spending 30 to 120 minutes documenting after clinic hours,” said Trish Barker, Chief Operating Officer, Florida Eye Associates. “Having all-in-one ophthalmology software provides transparency and easy access to the information we need to get the job done. EMA has increased our efficiency by allowing our physicians to see and document patient encounters quickly. The PM system has streamlined our billing process, making payment turnaround times faster.”
“The all-in-one system streamlines check-in and checkout and is much easier to use than our previous platform. Everything we need — from insurance eligibility to balances due — is there and we don’t have to click through multiple screens. This is a huge time saver," Eli Tallman, Administrator from Retina & Vitreous of Texas, said in the news release. “Eye care professionals are having to manage incredible market pressures with an increase in patient demand from aging baby boomers, regulatory constraints, market consolidation and staff shortages. ModMed helps address and alleviate some of these pressures by seamlessly connecting front office, clinical care and backend office operations.”
At the AAO event, ModMed will demo its latest advances in clinical workflow efficiency:
- Enabling providers to conduct a simplified eye exam with fewer clicks or taps designed to reduce documentation time
- A new intravitreal injection log providing vitreoretinal surgeons with quick access to the list of a patient’s previous injections, intervals, and key exam elements
- Support for patients submitting their own primary health concern via the Patient Portal or ModMedKiosk for physicians to review before the appointment begins
- Capability for staff to queue up a kit of forms for processing versus processing each form individually, designed to increase efficiency for surgical schedulers
