Scientists Say Widespread COVID-19 Boosting Not Needed For Now
A week before the Biden administration is set to start giving out COVID-19 booster shots to most vaccinated Americans, a group of US and international scientists have come out against the idea in a viewpoint published Monday in The Lancet, according to a FirstWord report. The co-authors, who include two departing vaccine officials at the FDA, said "current evidence does not…appear to show a need for boosting in the general population, in which [vaccine] efficacy against severe disease remains high," including when it comes to the Delta variant.
