Yuyu Pharma announced the presentation of two scientific abstracts at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) 2023 Annual Meeting, taking place in New Orleans, LA, April 23-27, 2023.

"At Yuyu, we are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with experts in ophthalmology to perform meaningful research around YP-P10, our novel peptide, currently in phase 2 clinical trials for treatment of dry eye disease. Thre presentations at ARVO are an opportunity to showcase to preclinical data that supported Yuyu's decision to develop YP-P10 for dry eye disease as we await YP=P10's topline clinical data anticipated to be released later this month," Robert Yu, Yuya Pharma, said in a company news release.

Presenter:  Laxmikant (Neil) Gharat, PhD, Yuyu Pharma

Session: Dry Eye

Date / Time: Sun, April 23, 2023, 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM

Purpose: YP-P10 Peptide is a synthetic anti-inflammatory peptide which has shown reduction in inflammatory cytokines and chemokines in stimulated in-vitro hPBMC’s and human corneal epithelial cells. This study is aimed to investigate the effect of YP-P10 Peptide in a mouse model of dry eye disease in comparison to lifitegrast, cyclosporine, diquafosol sodium, and hyaluronic acid.

Presentation

YP-P10 Peptide selectively decreased Th2 and Th17 cells in an in vitro model of human blood-derived effector CD4+T-cell subsets.

Presenter:  Virginia L. Calder, PhD, University College London

Session: The Role of Infiltrating Immune Cells in Ocular Disease

Date / Time: Wed, April 26, 2023, 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM

Purpose: A synthetic peptide YP-P10 has previously been demonstrated to exert a protective role in in vivo models of dry eye disease (DED) and is in a phase 2 study for DED. The purpose of this study is to investigate YP-P10 Peptide for its anti-inflammatory effect(s) on adaptive immune cell responses in vitro and elucidate its mechanism of action.

YP-P10 is a novel, patented, synthetic peptide with anti-inflammatory properties being explored for the potential treatment of dry eye disease (DED). In April 2022, Yuyu received clearance from the FDA that enabled the company to initiate the phase 2 clinical study, ICECAP, to evaluate the safety, tolerability and efficacy of YP-P10 Ophthalmic Solution in patients with DED. ICECAP is Yuyu’s first biopharmaceutical clinical trial within the United States.
