A cleaning system for diamond blades that does not scratch, chip, or dull the blade.
Key Features
- The Opti-Kleen detergent removes tissue and other debris from the surface of diamond blades
- The foam pad does not scratch, chip, dull, or break the blades
- Blades are sterilized after cleaning
The Opti-Kleen Diamond Blade Cleaning System (Micro-Scientific Industries) is designed for cleaning tissue and other debris from the surface of diamond blades before sterilization. The system includes a foam-like pad that is saturated with Opti-Kleen detergent. According to company literature, the foam pad allows the gentle scrubbing of the blade’s surface without scratching, chipping, dulling, or breaking it; the Opti-Kleen solution loosens tissue debris and dissolves blood and other bodily fluids. As the diamond blade is moved back and forth through the foam pad in a cutting motion, bubbles stick to the blade, creating a resistance that safely removes debris and deposits it into the foam. After cleaning with Opti-Kleen, the blade is sterilized in an autoclave. At the end of the surgical day, the foam kit is disposed of according to local regulations. There are 12 kits per box and two boxes per case.

Light-emitting diode conversion kits improve slit-lamp illumination.
Key Features
- LED conversion kit available for BM 900 and BQ 900 slit lamps
- Employs a light spectrum that illuminates minute details in the anterior chamber, cornea, and lens
- Eliminates the need for additional external light sources or long fiber optics
Light-emitting diode (LED) conversion kits are now available for Haag-Streit’s BM 900 and BQ 900 slit lamps, which come with a tungsten lamp bulb. These LEDs do not emit radiation or produce heat, and they last approximately 35,000 hours, which is 150 times longer than a tungsten bulb. According to company literature, the new LED conversion kit features a light spectrum that illuminates minute details in the anterior chamber, cornea, and lens. The improved view also assists ophthalmologists with evaluating the depth of a foreign object in the eye or analyzing anterior chamber depth.
The LED conversion kit includes built-in background illumination for imaging-ready slit lamps and eliminates the need for additional external light sources or long fiber optics. Controls for the LED illumination and background illumination are located on the tabletop. The conversion kit is available for Haag-Streit’s slit-lamp models with a single-control joystick.
