Schwind Artificial
Chamber
The Schwind Artificial Chamber (Schwind eyetech-
solutions, Kleinostheim, Germany) can be
used with the company's Carriazo-Pendular microkeratome
for preparation of the donor cornea in
anterior and posterior lamellar keratoplasty.
According to company literature, the patented
geometry of the Carriazo-Pendular cutting head
and the cutting principle of convex applanation
provide highly reliable and precise flaps and
smooth cutting surfaces. The integrated spring element
allows optimal fixation of the graft without
loss of pressure in the Schwind Artificial Chamber.
Compact and ergonomically designed, the device is easy to assemble,
and the microkeratome is easily connected. Four ring sizes (8.5–10 mm)
and three cutting heads (300, 350, and 400 μm) for lamellar keratoplasty
are available.
