STAAR Toric IOL and Visian Toric Implantable Collamer Lens

The STAAR Toric IOL (Monrovia, California) is a one-piece silicone lens with a 6-mm optic, available in two overall lengths, 10.8 mm (Model AA4203TF) and 11.2 mm (Model AA4203TL). The TL model is designed to help aid rotational stability in longer eyes. The IOL is available in a range of spherical powers with two strengths of cylindrical adds: 2.00 and 3.50 D at the IOL plane, correcting 1.40 and 2.30 D of astigmatism, respectively.

This plate-haptic IOL is designed for placement in the capsular bag after cataract removal. It can be implanted with the MicroSTAAR injector.

The lens is used in conjunction with the PreVize Optimized Toric Calculator (www.STAARToric.com), which uses preoperative data to suggest lens powers and provides an illustration showing the orientation of the IOL. Axis markers on the IOL facilitate alignment with the steep corneal meridian.

The Visian Toric Implantable Collamer Lens (TICL; STAAR Surgical) is a foldable phakic IOL designed to correct myopic astigmatism. The lens is available for correction of 4.00 to 20.00 D of myopia and 1.00 to 4.00 D of astigmatism. It comes with power calculation and implantation software.

Collamer is STAAR's proprietary collagen copolymer, which decreases internal reflectance and improves biocompatibility.
