Geuder AG’s Pure Efficiency Phaco (PEP) sets are designed for coaxial mini phacoemulsification through 2.2- and 2.4-mm incisions. According to company literature, the ultrasonic tips are made of titanium and have a small-edge geometry so that entering hard lens nuclei is easier and ultrasound times can be reduced. The smooth transition from the sleeve to the tip facilitates gentle insertion. The PEP tips offer surgeons increased followability and efficient holdability due to improved fluidics. Additionally, the three-step design and the 40° angle maximize the active surface for ultrasound emulsification.

The OptiVis multifocal IOL (Aaren Scientific, Inc.) combines apodized diffractive and progressive refractive optics to provide near, far, and intermediate vision at a full range of pupil sizes. The unique bi-sign aspherization of OptiVis creates positive and negative ocular aberrations at large pupil diameters, not only to balance out corneal aberrations but to compensate for ocular aberrations within the lens itself.1 This leads to superior image quality at large pupils diameters even with lens decentration and tilt, ensuring predictable contrast sensitivity in low-light conditions. The lens’ apodization increases far image dominance with increasing pupil size to improve distance contrast sensitivity in low-light conditions. According to the company, with OptiVis, fewer than 4% of light falls outside of the far to near range of vision to improve contrast. Several of the design features also reduce dysphotopsia and minimize halo size.
