INNOVATIONS

Ellips FX Technology
Abbott Medical Optics Inc. (Santa Ana, California) recently launched the Ellips FX ultrasound technology for its WhiteStar Signature system. According to company literature, the Ellips FX works with any tip or technique, and it features a higher frequency cutting performance and a larger zone of tissue removal compared with the original Ellips technology. The Ellips FX offers the controlled use of power required for hard and soft cataracts as well as its unique tip movement to minimize clogging and to maintain overall stability of the chamber.

BQ 900 LED Slit Lamp
Haag-Streit AG (Köniz, Switzerland) introduced the BQ 900 LED, a light-emitting-diode (LED)-powered slit lamp. According to company literature, the light spectrum of the BQ 900 LED matches that of wellestablished tungsten light. Due to the long lifetime of the LED illumination, bulbs do not need to be exchanged. The LED-illumination slit lamp is imaging-ready and combines slit and background illumination. Pivoting and fixed background illumination allows flexible adjustment of the light and ensures best details in all imaging applications on the slit lamp.
